COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING AND DESIGN I

Grade Level:   9-12(Semester 1)

Reading:  Instructions from tutorials.

Writing:  None

Homework:  If not completed in class.

 

 

Description:

            This course would be valuable to anyone pursuing a career in engineering, architecture, electricity-electronics, cabinet making, carpentry, metalworking, drafting, transportation, landscape architecture, interior design, or any related occupation.

            Upon review of mechanical drawing, geometric constructions and view completions the student will be instructed in the use of the Solidworks software program for computer assisted drafting.  Upon mastering the skills in Solidworks you should have the ability to communicate visually the objects that are produced for consumer use.

            An introduction into Architectural drawing will be given.  Each student will create a basic floor plan and two elevations of a moderate family residence.

 

 

STUDENTS WILL:

            Demonstrate proficiency with the mechanical drafting tools to create and complete views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensional representations.

            Demonstrate the use of the Solidworks commands in constructing working drawings and generating 3D models of parts and assemblies.

            Identify the alphabet of lines used in mechanical drawings.

            Create a plan for a family home containing a floor plan and two elevations.

 

LENGTH OF CLASS

            44 Minutes. 5 days per week. 18 weeks.

 

STANDARDS:

 

            The Attributes of Design – Students will develop an understanding of the attributes of design.
