TERM: TRIMESTER PREREQUISITE: NONE
DESCRIPTION: This class will allow the student experience in design using basic hand tools and the Solidworks 3D program, and woodworking, using all the hand, power, and stationary tools to complete various woodworking projects from the simple to the moderately complex. The basic understanding of wood properties and types of wood will also be covered. The final individually designed project will cost the student $5 if the student wishes to take it home.
-Create hand drawings to begin the design process
-Create 3D drawings using Solidworks Software
-Identify and demonstrate the safe use of the basic woodworking tools, machines, joinery and materials.
-Design a small functional woodworking project that will incorporate a majority of the woodworking machines and demonstrate the ability to make lineal measurements.
-List the materials and calculate the cost of the project.
-Create a plan of procedure listing the steps involved in the construction of the project.
-Demonstrate proper personal safety practices while working in the lab environment.
