     Students should view the videos and rank them on a scale of 1-4, poor to excellent, for the content observed. By the end of the week they should submit a brief summary of the machines, tools and processes used and when or if they would use them in a future project.

DESCRIPTION:  This class will allow the student to build a woodworking project of their choice. A review of the power machines, hand tools, processes and materials used in a woodworking shop will be required.  A design, list of materials, and plan of procedure will also be completed before construction.

The cost of materials for the project will be the responsibility of the student.  Materials can be purchased through the school or through an outside source. Materials purchased through school need to be paid for in advance.

 

 

 

STUDENTS WILL:

 

-Identify and demonstrate the safe use of the woodworking machines, tools, joinery and materials required.

-Design a functional woodworking project.

-List the materials and calculate the cost of the project.

-Create a plan of procedure listing the steps involved in construction of the project.

-Demonstrate proper personal safety practices while working in the shop environment.

-Calculate the hours and the cost of the labor requirements after completion of the project including overhead costs.
